COLTON>> On December 2, 2015, two gunmen opened fire at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California, killing 14 and injuring countless others.

The shooting has since been named as one of the deadliest terrorist attacks to occur in the United States since 9/11.

To honor the memory of those who lost their lives on that day, The Sons of the American Legion will host a blood drive and marrow screening.

The drive will take place at the bloodmobile on Tuesday, May 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 1401 Veterans Way, in Colton, California.

All donors will be automatically entered into a drawing for a free pair of Disneyland tickets.

Participants will receive a free cholesterol screening, as well as loyalty donor points in the “Gift of Life” donor loyalty program. Points can be redeemed through www.LStream.org

When donating blood, LifeStream advises registrants to drink plenty of fluids and to bring photo ID.

Those under the age of 18 must sign a LifeStream consent form.

Bone Marrow donors must be between the ages of 18 and 44. They must also be aware that donations are not given to any specific person of their choosing.

Walks-ins are welcome, but those who have made an appointment will receive priority.

Every ounce of blood or marrow donated, goes to saving the life of somebody in need. Without the help of these donations, those who are in critical need of bone marrow or blood transfusions could face shortages that require them to go without.

Donating saves lives.

Those interested can sign up by contacting John Meija at 909-227-4848 or by emailing rinatso.meija@yahoo.com.
