Colton Boxing Club Wins Gold

COLTON>> The Colton Boxing Club brought home the gold, not from Rio de Janeiro, but from the Villegas Park Boxing Club in Riverside on Saturday, Sept. 24. Of the 54 boxers who participated, four were from the Colton Boxing Club. 11-year-old Eric Duran, 92 lbs., earned a championship belt; 8-year-old Alejandro Bogarin (aka Pudgy), 65 lbs., brought home a championship belt and Robert Renteria, 102 lbs., brought home a runner up award. The fourth boxer of the Colton Boxing Club, Alex Bojarin, Jr., 56 lb., also competed and did not draw a bout. The boxers have been under the club’s skillful training of Head Coach Steve Aguilar who has led the club since 1979. The Bogarin brothers had some extra training by their father, Coach Alex Bogarin, a former 156-pound professional boxer who also trained his 17-year-old daughter, Roxanne Bogarin, who earned this season’s So. Cal.125 lb. Female Division Amateur Boxing Championship.
