Partial Freeway Closures to Begin Friday

Caltrans is putting Inland Empire motorists on notice that it plans to completely shut down Interstate 215 between Iowa Avenue and Barton Road, beginning at 10 p.m. Friday night and lasting until noon on Saturday. The shutdown is necessary in order to complete the railroad bridge work and move the third railroad structure into place for the BNSF Railroad crossing, according to the Caltrans website. The freeway will also close from 10 p.m. Sept. 12 until noon Sept. 13, and from 10 p.m. Sept. 13 until noon Sept. 14. The interstate will be closed for a third weekend beginning at 10 p.m. on Sept. 19 until noon on Sept. 20. For more information on Caltrans projects, visit their website at www.caltrans8.
