COLTON>> The Colton Joint Unified School District will open registration this month for adult education classes for those interested in obtaining their high school diploma, preparing for the GTD, pursuing U.S Citizenship, studying English as a Second Language and/or Adult Basic Education. CJUSD Adult Education, in collaboration with the Inland Adult Education Consortium, helps adults in the city of Colton and surrounding cities learn the academic and job skills needed to improve their employment opportunities and set new career goals. “We connect adults to educational programs that empower them to overcome past challenges, gain in-demand skills and increase their earning capacity, contributing to the overall economic health of our region,” said Amanda Corridan, CJUSD’s assistant superintendent for Student Services. Registration will be held on a first come, first served basis on the following dates at Slover Mountain High School 18829 Orange Street in Bloomington: Monday, Nov. 28 at 4 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 3 at 9 a.m. Registration is a three-hour process and includes assessments for placement purposes, so those interested are asked to please be prompt and to not bring children. Following assessment, all those enrolling in ESL, Citizenship, or Adult Basic Education will meet with a counselor to discuss placement and develop an education plan. Those enrolling in the High School Diploma or GED preparation program will return on another scheduled date to meet with a counselor, review transcripts and develop an education plan.
