Police Investigate Officer Involved Shooting

COLTON>> On Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at approximately 5:31 pm, Colton officers located an occupied stolen vehicle in the area of Harbor Avenue and Illinois Street in the City of Colton. Colton police officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle but the driver failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle collided with a curb in the 900 block of East “C” Street in the parking lot of Washington Elementary School. At the end of the pursuit an officer involved shooting occurred and the driver and passenger of the stolen vehicle were taken to nearby hospitals. One suspect is deceased and the other one is being treated for his injuries. The school was not in session during the time of the shooting. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s department is conducting the investigation.
