Randall Ceniceros, resident of South Fontana for more than 20 years, is in the run for the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District for Division 2. Ceniceros is currently the Colton Unified School District Board of Trustees Clerk and with more than 20 years of experience with pharmaceuticals, nutrition and vitamins, Ceniceros is also a Healthcare Supervisor for Hospira Worldwide. Ceniceros said the drought spurred his interest and said the CJUSD was responsive to water conservation efforts with landscape projects, repurposing artificial turf and installing sprinkler moisture sensors. “We need to invest, educate and conserve water,” he said. “I want to help educate our 4-8th grade students about water importance, how to be water wise, understand where water comes from to conserve and be better stewards of our lakes and water resources.” One idea Ceniceros said he has is to invite University of California and California State University interns into the classrooms of the younger students to teach. He also said he would like to see education scholarships for students and to provide conservation grants to businesses. “I want to be a public servant and represent homeowners and address our drought crisis and water issues responsibility and effectively,” he said. “This isn't a popularity contest, however my endorsements speaks volumes, and make it possible to work with our legislators and local elected officials. We can be good environmental stewards and preserve water resources for generations to come.” Ceniceros said he is endorsed by leaders including Congresswoman Norma Torres, Senator Connie Leyva, Assemblymember Cheryl Brown, Supervisors James Ramos and Josie Gonzales and Colton Mayor Richard DeLaRosa. He is a member of the Greater Fontana Chamber of Commerce and is married to his wife, Maria Ceniceros, who is an Army veteran. Together they have four children: Aiden, 9, Carissa, 17, Cameren, 20, and Branden, 22. As a director, he would approve projects to import water to the region and plan for long-term water sustainability. "My emphasis is to import water to meet the needs of our prosperous region," he said. "My goal is to change policy to reduce directors pay to one stipend per month. Current directors are paid for each meeting up to 10 meetings per month. (Another goal is) to break out of our silo and work with municipalities, schools and organizations to change our water habits. Meet with cities to plan new construction to shift to dryscape and drought tolerant plants. Schools can use recycled water to irrigate play fields. " "Water is my profession," he said. Ceniceros is a pharmaceutical distributor and licensed with the California Board of Pharmacy. He said he supplies lifesaving medicines to major hospitals including City of Hope, Cedars Sinai, Riverside Community, St. Joseph, St. Jude, Providence, Holy Cross and UCSD hospitals. "Our products are a tier above water treatment processes, reverse osmosis and UV sterilization. As a member of the CJUSD Board of Education, Ceniceros works under one of the largest employers in Colton with 2,100 employees. He also helps manage $260 million annual budget and oversees 29 school sites. "I've been a voice for change on the CJUSD Board of Education to improve schools, raise test scores, improve safety and graduation rates," he said. I have fought our way through the recession crisis." As an actively involved parent, Randall has served on several school and district committees, including the PTA, Agua, Agua Mansa PTA Scholarship Committee and the Spirit of Bloomington High School Band Booster Club, as well as being a former member of the Measure G - Citizens' Oversight Committee. Ceniceros said he is an avid supporter of the District Science Fair, Apple Scholarship, GATE, NJROTC and band programs. "Now, I seek your support to keep our district tax rates low, plan for growth, revitalization and water sustainability," Ceniceros said. "It is important to educate our next generation to be water wise. Join me in investing in today's water for a clearer tomorrow." Ceniceros is the executive director of Cameren Jason Ceniceros NJROTC Scholarship Fund, named after his son, a U.S. Navy midshipman at UCSD. The scholarship fund was founded in 2014 and has since awarded five cash scholarships to CJUSD graduating seniors. The scholarships are solely funded by the Ceniceros family. Paid for by Randall Ceniceros.
