Colton City officials have closed the Mt. Vernon bridge over the Santa Ana River. It was discovered that the footings under the bridge were undermined by the recent rains. The bridge was closed early Thursday morning, and will remained closed until it is evaluated by structural and Geotechnical Engineers. At this point, the city does not have an estimate of how long the bridge will be closed. Detours around the bridge have been set up. Motorist should plan to use the detours and expect delays due to the change in traffic to the affected areas.
