You’ll need:
-
Soy wax flakes (about 2 lbs for 4–5 medium jars)
-
Candle wicks (cotton or wood wicks work great)
-
Heatproof glass jars (mason jars, recycled jars, or tins)
-
Dried citrus slices (lemon, orange, lime)
-
Fresh or dried herbs (like rosemary, thyme, or lavender)
-
Candle fragrance oil or essential oils (citrus, eucalyptus, or lavender are great summer scents)
-
Hot glue gun (to secure wicks)
-
A heat-safe pitcher or double boiler
Instructions:
-
Prep jars: Use hot glue to secure the wick to the bottom of each jar.
-
Melt wax: In a double boiler (or heat-safe pitcher set in a pot of simmering water), melt the soy wax flakes until fully liquid.
-
Add fragrance: Stir in 15–20 drops of essential oil (or 1 oz candle fragrance oil per pound of wax).
-
Decorate jars: Place dried citrus slices and herbs around the sides of the jar. (Tip: Press them against the glass so they show through once the wax sets.)
-
Pour wax: Slowly pour melted wax into each jar, holding the wick centered with a clothespin or skewer.
-
Set & trim: Let candles cool and harden completely (about 3–4 hours). Trim the wick to ¼ inch.
-
Light & enjoy!
