Red, White & Blue Berry Trifle
Ingredients:
1 store-bought angel food cake or pound cake (cubed)
1 pint fresh strawberries (hulled and sliced)
1 pint fresh blueberries
1½ cups heavy whipping cream
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional: 1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese for a richer cream layer
Instructions:
Make the whipped cream: Beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. (For a richer layer, blend in softened cream cheese before whipping.)
Assemble the trifle:
In a large glass bowl or trifle dish, layer in this order:
Cubed cake
Whipped cream
Strawberries
Blueberries
Repeat layers until you run out of ingredients, finishing with whipped cream and a flag pattern on top using the berries (optional but super festive!).
Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
Tips:
Use mini cups or mason jars for individual servings.
Add a splash of lemon zest to the cream for extra brightness.
Can be made 1 day ahead—just keep it chilled!
