COLTON >> Cooley Ranch Elementary School celebrated the International Day of Happiness with the community at a special event held on Saturday, March 19. The school’s Happiness Day celebration included a Happiness Wall where participants posted what they are doing to make the world a happier place. The Cooley Ranch Happiness Wall was one of 100 across the country set up for Happiness Day (officially March 20). Colton Joint Unified School District Superintendent Jerry Almendarez and Board of Education members Randall Ceniceros and Joanne Thoring-Ojeda were among dignitaries who attended throughout the day. The event was hosted by Marlene Lopez, whose husband is a teacher at Cooley Ranch. The UN-sanctioned Happiness Day event, now in its third year, also serves as a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Live Happy magazine donate $1 to the organization for every Happy Act shared on a Happiness Wall. In addition to Saturday’s Happiness Wall event, Cooley Ranch students participated in various related happiness activities in the week leading up to the event.
