Freshman Varsity cheerleader Brooke Hazen stands at midfield of Grand Terrace High School's football field, where she looks forward to helping energize the crowd and build school spirit throughout the Titans' football season.

Freshman Brooke Isabella Hazen may be new to Grand Terrace High School, but she is already making an impressive impact on the Titan Pep Squad. At just 14 years old, Brooke earned a coveted spot on the Varsity cheer squad as an incoming Freshman and recently achieved another milestone by being selected to the Varsity USA All-American Cheer Team. Cheerleading has been a part of Brooke's life since she was four years old. Throughout the years, she has also participated in soccer, softball, dance, gymnastics, and swimming. Competing in multiple sports has helped her develop strength, discipline, confidence, and the determination that continues to push her toward her goals. As a varsity flyer, Brooke shares, "What I love most about cheerleading is the opportunity to energize the crowd by boosting school spirit and motivating our team." As the athlete lifted into the air during stunts, Brooke knows she couldn't do it without her Titan Pep Squad. She credits her bases and back spot for their strength, teamwork, and trust, saying every successful stunt is the result of everyone working together as one unit. One of Brooke's favorite memories came this summer while attending Varsity USA Cheer Camp, where her hard work earned her a place on the prestigious USA All-American Cheer Team. She also considers making the Grand Terrace High School Varsity squad as a Freshman one of her proudest accomplishments. Balancing academics with athletics isn't always easy, but Brooke remains focused on her priorities. She maintains a 3.0 GPA while dedicating countless hours to practices, workouts, games, and family time. Brooke shares, "School is my priority, and then my commitments to cheer come next. I'm very determined and always keep my eyes on my goals." Cheerleading has taught Brooke valuable life lessons that extend far beyond the sidelines. Brooke said, "When you want something, you have to work hard for it. Nothing comes easy, and I always strive to do better than the day before." That mindset has fueled her success both academically and athletically and continues to motivate her to improve every day. When asked who inspires her, Brooke said, “My parents inspire me to work hard and never give up. They remind me daily to stay positive, keep trying even when things get difficult and always do my best. As a cheerleader, I want to encourage others the same way my parents encourage me. Their support gives me confidence every step of the way.” Looking toward the future, Brooke plans to pursue a career in the medical field and hopes to attend California Baptist University, proudly adding, "Go Lancers!" As a proud CBU graduate myself, it's exciting to see Brooke already setting her sights on becoming a future Lancer and pursuing her dream of a career in the medical field. For younger students who dream of becoming cheerleaders, Brooke offers simple but meaningful advice, "Work really hard, stay focused, and pray. Failure will help you grow." She also lives by a quote that reflects her strong work ethic, "Don't wish for it. Work for it. Show people, don't tell people." As Brooke begins her high school journey, she hopes the Grand Terrace community continues to support its student-athletes and would like to share with he readers, "Grand Terrace is such a small, tight-knit community. Come out and support our Friday Night Lights!" With her dedication, positive attitude, and passion for cheerleading, Brooke Hazen is already proving that hard work and perseverance can take you far. The future is certainly bright for this young Lady Titan and we wish her all the best.
