Citizens for Colton First Celebrate the Holidays

Citizens for Colton First held their annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 5 at the Pinnacle Peak Steak House in Colton. According to organizers, it was very successful with approximately 60 people in attendance. Congressman Joe Baca stopped by to say “hi” and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Colton dignitaries enjoying the steak dinner included Mayor Sarah Zamora, Councilmembers Susan Oliva, Deirdre Bennett, David Toro and Frank Navarro. Colton City Clerk Eileen Gomez and Grand Terrace Mayor Pro Tem Bernardo Sandoval and Mayor Walt Stanckiewitz were also in attendance. Steering committee members of Citizens for Colton First gave a brief overview of the purpose of the group and listed a dozen charities in which donations were given to as well as a couple of families in crisis. Citizens for Colton First also noted that they had compiled 20 food baskets for families in need during the Christmas season. They were able to top off the baskets with additional funds that were generously donated by those attending the dinner. The singing of Christmas carols, with musical accompaniment by Dr. “G” (Luis Gonzalez), gave a festive atmosphere to the entire evening. Fun was had by all, organizers said, with laughter, camaraderie, storytelling and a "fine" meal.
