Sparks were flying as students were working diligently to create their project for the Center for Employment Training’s 1st Welding Art Contest. On August 14, 2018, their hard work was displayed to Welding Industry Judges such as Crown Technical, TTX and Guest Judge, Neli Gutierrez of the Colton Chamber of Commerce. It was a tough judging decision as all projects were worthy of being winners. Michael Schumacher, who is in the day Welding Program, was announced as the Winner. His sculpture had special meaning as he spoke about how his life challenges inspired his art project.
CET Welding Program currently offers a day and night program. In this hands-on welding job training program, you’ll get the skills and training you need for a job as a welder. Practice shop safety, shop math, shop English, and blueprint interpretation. Learn essential welding theories such as SMAW process, GTAW process, GMAW process, FCAW process, as well as the Oxy-Fuel process.
The mission of CET, an economic and community development corporation, is to promote human development and education by providing people with marketable skills training and supportive services that contribute to self-sufficiency.
We are driven to help those who want a better life get the skills needed for meaningful work. CET’s job training programs teach marketable skills to people of all educational levels and backgrounds, especially those most in need. In addition to teaching trade skills in growing fields, we provide supportive services and job placement assistance.
Everyone deserves the dignity of self-sufficiency. We believe in a hand-up, not a hand-out. We want to help lift people out of poverty and into a brighter future.
CET is accredited by the Council of Occupational Education. This accreditation permits students to apply for federal financial assistance programs (Pell and SEOG Grants, Student Loans, Work-Study) to help students with tuition and basic living costs.
In addition to the Welding Program, CET Colton also offers the following programs: Day and night Auto Specialist, Welding, and HVAC. Machining/CNC is offered at night and Green Building Construction and Truck Driving are offered during the day.
