The Big Bear Valley branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW-BBV) sends qualifying Big Bear 8th grade girls interested in the STEM fields—science, technology, engineering and math—to summer “Tech Trek” camp on a college campus. Last year, the group sent 10 girls for which AAUW paid $900 per girl and parents only pay $50. Help make dreams like this come true for others by donating to a local non-profit through the annual Give BIG web-a-thon.

During the Give BIG launch event, Chairman James Ramos announced that he would, personally give an additional $2,500 to the Third District non-profit with the highest number of unique donors at the end of the Give BIG San Bernardino County web-a-thon. The Give BIG San Bernardino County campaign is a 24-hour online giving day throughout San Bernardino County that will raise funds for our local nonprofits who serve our community. The non-profit sector employs over 55,000 individuals and provides important resources for those in need. Give BIG San Bernardino County begins on Dec. 1 at midnight and continues for 24 hours. With a goal of raising $300,000 for local non-profits, the event strives to inspire donors to become long-time philanthropists. Last year, Chairman Ramos awarded The Lighthouse Project Inc. of Big Bear an additional $1,500 for receiving the highest number of unique donors with a total of 222 individual donations. “San Bernardino is a BIG county with BIG needs and BIG hearts,” said Chairman Ramos. “That is why this year I pledge to personally give an additional $2,500 to the Third District non-profit with the highest number of unique donors in the hope of inspiring others to GIVE BIG. Our local non-profits need your help.” For a list of donors participating in this year's Give BIG event, find this article at www.sanbernardinocitynews.com.
