At the recent Council Meeting Oct 21, Council Member Dr.G (Dr. Luis S. González) presented Mr. Javier Gomez, owner of Gomez Professional Services, with a “Business Focus” Recognition Award for his successful business operation in the City of Colton. Located in the downtown mini-plaza near Stater Bros., this long-established company originally started in 2000 as Gomez Tax Service in the living room of the Gomez’ family home in Corona.
Mr. Javier and his late wife, Florence, launched this business with the hope of effectively supporting their growing family. After three years in Corona and one year in Riverside, Mr. Javier and his wife found a nice building in Rialto where they operated from 2005-2014, growing their business and incorporating in 2010 as Gomez Professional Services.
Over time, they came to the conclusion that they needed more space for their growing business and found a nice corner office in Colton, on La Cadena and E Street, where they operated from 2015 – 2025. When asked about the new location, Mr. Javier commented, “We found Colton to be the right place for our business,” and continued, “We liked the home-town atmosphere and saw a great potential for growing our client base.”
As a result, the Gomez’ met many people and “dug in“ to develop many new connections, expand their services, and establish themselves as an integral part of the Colton downtown business community. We are glad they did, and we are very pleased they have succeeded so well and continue to offer great legal services to the Colton community, both for residents and businesses alike. Some of the most popular services include estate planning, tax prep, notary services, divorce, and passport assistance.
In 2025, they reached another milestone by moving into their new office near Stater Bros. where they established an even greater presence in Colton. This was a dream come true with a new business office, additional floor space, more office rooms, a receptionist room with formal waiting, and even a kitchen. The location is terrific, and the business continues to thrive.
The business did suffer a great loss, however, with the unfortunate passing of Florence Gomez a few months ago. She was a good friend of many, a great mother, Javier’s loving wife of 30 years, and a fantastic business partner. She is surely missed.
One thing is for certain, however. The family legacy has stayed strong as many of the policies, organizational procedures and improvements that Florence has made are still in effect and are helping to keep this family business going forward. Their son, Christopher, has worked in the business for three years, and has recently become an integral part of the operation. Javier’s daughter-in-law, Ashley, has recently come on board and she is effectively finding her way into local business circles and is creating valuable networking connections. I’m sure, there will be more to come on her in the future. Ashley’s sister "Meli" (Melissa) has also been helping in the business for three years. To be clear, this is truly a successful growing and thriving family business.
Mr. Javier Gomez and his staff, or shall I say his family-staff, are to be congratulated for their success as a local paralegal services business. This year is their 25th anniversary, and we truly hope that they will continue their successful business for years to come. We also want to recognize them for their hard work, great customer service, and excellent reputation; and for making a valuable contribution to our community and to our local economy.
