The City of Redlands was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the year ended June 2024. This is the 21st consecutive year the City has been recognized with the prestigious honor.

An impartial panel judged that the City’s financial report met the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and groups to read the report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant achievement by the City of Redlands Management Services Department’s Finance Division, Director Danielle Garcia and the core team members who worked with the City’s external auditors and prepared corresponding materials.

The Government Finance Officers Association established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.

Reports submitted to the ACFR award program are reviewed by an independent panel which comprises individuals with expertise in public-sector financial reporting and includes financial statement preparers, independent auditors, academics, and other finance professionals.

The City of Redlands has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for its annual comprehensive financial report every year since the Fiscal Year 2002-2003 ACFR.

The City of Redlands Annual Comprehensive Financial Report is available online at https://www.cityofredlands.org/post/annual-comprehensive-financial-report-acfr.

City budget data is available through the City’s Open Government portal at https://www.cityofredlands.org/open-government.

The Government Finance Officers Association, with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C., is a nonprofit professional association serving more than 21,000 government finance professionals and the communities they serve.
