COLTON>>On  Saturday, May 6 the Colton Area Museum held their annual “A Taste of Colton” event.

The celebration featured bouncy houses, music, raffles, vendors and more.

Despite the weather, hundreds of Colton residents attended the event.

Booths were put up that educated the public on the history of Colton, and

representatives from South Colton also attended. A booth titled “Growing Up in South Colton” was set up at the event and it offered information on Colton culture during the 1890’s and 1960’s.

The event also honored one of its own, Dr. Larry Sheffield, who was once president of the museum. “He has written various books on the history of Colton and many other areas,” said Mario Suarez, Colton City’s Senior planner. “He also has written various books on the history of Colton and many other areas. “This [event] is in memory of him as well.”

This week,  the Colton City Council recognized the Museum day by presenting the CAM Board of Directors with a proclamation honoring their cultural and historical

contributions to the city over the last 26 years.

Present at the event were Colton Area

Museum Board Members Jimmy Villegas, Noe Medina, council Member Dr. Luis Gonzalez, President Mike Murphy, Frank Acosta, and Mario Suarez.

For more information about the museum and it programs, contact the museum at 824-8814, or Dr. G at 213-3730.
