COLTON>> Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) officials and Compton Fire Department personnel joined together at ARMC at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, to honor a nurse, Jade Thomas. The Fire Captain presented a special plaque to Thomas for her selfless act in saving the life of an injured motorist.

Thomas has been a nurse at ARMC for approximately two years and was in her personal vehicle when another motorist struck a pole on the busy 91 freeway. She pulled over and removed the unconscious man from his car and was conducting CPR prior to the fire department arriving at the scene.

The accident happened in early August and was caused due to the victim, Jay Bogan, having a heart attack. He was transported to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, and then to Cedars-Sinai for further care. He has since returned to work and is looking forward to thanking Ms. Thomas in person, and officially meeting her since he was unconscious during the ordeal.

“Ms. Thomas did an extraordinary service to save someone’s life,” said Richard Roman, EMS Coordinator for the City of Compton Fire Department, and the first responder to arrive while Thomas was performing CPR. “There was a good amount of traffic when the accident occurred and this man most likely would not be alive today had it not been for Ms. Thomas’ true act of heroism.”
