Voice of the People:

It is with great optimism I have observed the community involvement of a retired Colton High School teacher, Dr. Luis S. Gonzalez, now actively seeking a seat on the Colton City Council's District 4. It is refreshing to see someone have such a keen interest in bettering the community on so many levels. Support of the arts, recognition of the Hub City's rich history, and his monthly meetings with ordinary but civically-minded citizens come to mind immediately in regarding a man who could have retired and simply faded away from the community in which he worked for so long and so well. He is known as "Dr. G" to his students and also now to an increasing number of people in the community who have encountered his seemingly tireless efforts to make Colton a better place. It seems he pops up everywhere in town these days with fresh ideas, energy, enthusiasm, optimism and a ready smile in doing his part to make Colton a great place to live and work. In a city smack dab in the middle of the transient hustle and bustle of the Inland Empire, it is nice to know there is someone who recognizes Colton as more than just a busy thoroughfare on the way from point A to point B, and realizes it is also a place where people live, work, recreate, shop, dine and attend schools, churches and community events in their "hometown." Such a place deserves people who are about it. Thanks "Dr.G" for doing so.
