In honor of the late Colton police Capt. Fred Malouf (retired), who was killed 20 years ago this month, there will be a fundraiser for the families of local area fallen police officers. Fred Malouf bravely gave his life while protecting his wife and patrons of a local restaurant during a take-over robbery. The fundraiser is sponsored by the Malouf and Simon families in cooperation with the Colton Police Officers Association. It will be hosted by Nickelodeon Pizza located at 1411 E. Washington, Colton CA. Gary Grossich, the owner of the Nickelodeon, said he would donate 20 percent of his sales during the fundraiser which will be from 5 to 9 p.m. on April 20, 2016. The customers, when ordering during this time period, need to just say they are here for the fundraiser. This will allow for proper accounting and is at no extra cost to the patron. Those wishing to donate by check instead of cash should make out the checks to “Colton Police Officers Association” (CPOA). The memo should state: For fallen police officer families. The CPOA will be given the funds collected for them to administer as required.
