On October 18, 2023, the Grand Terrace Woman’s Club marked its 115th-year milestone with a Tea, located at the Colton Woman’s Club. The event witnessed a resounding success, graced by esteemed guests, among whom were Grand Terrace Mayor Bill Hussey and Sonya Matthies, President-elect of the California Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Mayor Bill Hussey presented the Club with a Proclamation Plaque in honor of its 115th-year anniversary. The proceedings began with Club member Carolynn Payne offering an opening thought and blessing before the meal. The enchanting melodies of harpist Bettina Jiang provided a musical backdrop, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.

Expressing gratitude, Club member Mary Wilson extended thanks to the supportive vendors. Melmar Events contributed a stunning balloon arch, creating an ideal setting for photographs, while Delicious Surprises and Stater Bros. adorned the tables with captivating centerpieces.

Local restaurants generously contributed an array of delectable food and beverages, enhancing the overall culinary experience. Please support these local restaurants, as they give so much to our community.

The event menu had a delightful array of flavors, spanning from TGI Friday’s irresistible Potato Skins and Mozzarella Sticks to The Palm Tree's tantalizing Chicken Kabob’s in bite-sized perfection. Jewlie Serna elevates the affair with refreshing Cucumber Sandwiches, while Domino’s Pizza brings a classic touch with their timeless pizzas. The spread continues with BJ’s Brewhouse contributing the savory goodness of Ham & Cheese Sliders, and Ana’s Charcuterie Board adding a touch of sophistication. Martha Green’s The Eating Room makes a sweet contribution with delectable Blueberry Scones paired with Clotted Cream. The dessert lineup features indulgent treats from Sweet Life Bakery and Julie Young’s Sweet Creations, showcasing Pumpkin Cupcakes and an assortment from Nothin’ Bundt Cakes and Stater Bros. contributing bite-sized brownies. To complement this feast, a selection of teas and refreshing bottled water from Grocery Outlet ensured a perfect balance for a memorable gathering.

Wendy Curran, the Club’s Past President and current 2nd Vice President of the California Federation of Women’s Clubs shared a comprehensive account of the Club’s achievements. Notably, she showcased a historical display featuring Club yearbooks dating back to 1908, highlighting the fragility of the first meeting's minutes written in pencil.

Club member Mary Wilson stirred emotions with a poignant "Tea Story," adding a personal touch to the celebration. The event reached its conclusion with the distribution of beautiful door prizes, bringing joy to numerous fortunate attendees. Notable among the prizes was a thoughtfully crafted gift basket donated by Three Bees and a stylish "Dia de los Muertos" purse contributed by Cynthia Zambrano.
