SAN BERNARDINO>> Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes was recently appointed to the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls as well as the California Child Welfare Council by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon. The appointment comes as Assemblymember Reyes continues to advocate in the Legislature for disadvantaged communities.

“I am honored that Speaker Rendon appointed me to serve,” said Assemblymember Reyes.  “I will bring a perspective to these roles that highlight the unique needs of the Inland Empire related to child welfare issues and ensuring that we elevate opportunities for all women and girls in the region.”

The California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls is a nonpartisan state agency that works to promote equality and justice for women and girls all over the state. This is done by working with the office of the Governor, the State Legislature and other policymakers throughout the state on areas such as access to healthcare, education, economic equity, violence against women and other areas recognized by the Commission.

The California Child Welfare Council, under the Health & Human Services Agency and established in 2006, serves as an advisory body for the improvement of services and collaboration of all the agencies involved that serve the children in the welfare system.

Together, the two appointments continue to bolster and expand Assemblymember Reyes’ legislative commitment to do more for the underserved and to bring back resources that have been lacking from the communities she serves.

Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes represents Assembly District 47 which includes the cities of Fontana, Rialto, Colton, Grand Terrace, San Bernardino and the unincorporated areas of Muscoy and Bloomington.
