GRAND TERRACE>> Summer brings with it a sort of restlessness like no other. As the weather continues to grow warmer, thoughts of long days at the beach and summer vacation are frequent.

However, because summer can be considered  "officially" underway, there's one more crucial event that's set to take place. Graduation.

Caps and gowns, empty lockers, and tearful good-byes, are fresh on the minds of local seniors, as they get ready to take their next steps into life.

This year, high school students from Grand Terrace High School, Colton, and Bloomington visited with graduating elementary school kids as a final good-bye.

This is the second year graduates have made the visits, which offer the entire district an opportunity to congratulate our graduating seniors on their accomplishments. The seniors, meanwhile, have a chance to revisit the places where they got their start and say thank you to teachers and administrators, as well as to impart some wisdom:

“Work hard.” “Don’t give up on your dreams.” “Listen to your teachers.” “Have some fun…high school goes by fast.”

“Today’s event was truly inspirational for our entire school community,” Walter Zimmerman Elementary School Principal Cynthia Coello said, speaking of the May 18 graduate visit to her campus. “Specifically, our students received an empowering message from the visiting seniors: ‘Never give up on your dreams!’ One of the greatest indicators of student success is student expectation, and if we can motivate our students to believe that they can achieve anything, then the sky’s the limit!”
