City of Colton to Present Volunteer of the Year Award

COLTON>> The Colton Recreation & Parks Commission has recently announced a new Volunteer of the Year award. The Volunteer of the Year award will be given to the Colton resident who has gone above and beyond in giving back to the community through means of volunteer services. Those who have been nominated have devoted an extraordinary amount of time and dedication to assisting either a local community-based organization, a non-profit group, or a public agency who aims to provide a valuable public service. Nominations for Volunteer of the Year will be accepted through Monday, May 1. Nomination criteria and forms are available from the Colton Community Services Department, located at the Gonzales Center, 670 Colton Avenue and online at www.coltonca.gov. All nominations will be reviewed by the Colton Recreation & Parks Commission, and a single awardee will be designated by vote at the meeting on Wednesday, May 17. The 2017 Volunteer of the Year will be recognized at Colton’s 130th Birthday Celebration, which is set to take place on Saturday, July 8. Nominees must be a current Colton resident, be currently living, an overall good citizen, and the group or organization they have volunteered for must be based in Colton.
