The Colton High School (CHS) "Yellowjacket" Marching Band and Color Guard recently participated in the 20th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Hermosa Beach. Led by Senior Drum Majors Angel Estrada and Samuel Gutierrez, the band strutted their stuff proudly representing the Inland Empire, much to the great pleasure of the thousands in the audience. This is the second year that Colton High has participated in the celebrated event. The CHS Band has had a very successful competition season, including the LA County Fair, the High Desert Field Show Competition in Barstow, the Fontana High Field Show Competition, and the Annual Chinese New Year Parade in Los Angeles. In addition to several out of town events, the band has also performed for the Colton Veterans Day Parade, Colton Christmas Parade, and the CHS Homecoming Parade. For the first time in CHS history, the Marching Band was invited to perform at a UCLA football game, where the band played alongside the UCLA band for pre-game and half time. The band is under the direction of Dr. Lisa Nicolay. The Color Guard Captain is Ashley Lowell, and the Drum Captain is Johnatan Estrada.
