COLTON>> On Aug. 29, the Colton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6476 Auxiliary held their first Annual Taco Battle Car Show and Concert at the auxiliary. Seven taco carts battled it out to determine who in the Inland Empire would become the winner. The first place winner took home a plaque, cash and held bragging rights for the year. The judges voted unanimously for The Taco Kid from San Bernardino to take first place, Colton business Choppers Tacos came in second and Evelyn Jaurique, a Colton resident, took third place. Entertainment for the event was organized by Paul Rasso, from KCAA Radio, and included DJ Abel, DJ Cece Rasso, Bailie Floriko Cultura and the sounds of four local bands. Colton Mayor Richard DelaRosa and his I.E. Sound Band played during the event as well as Flamingo Band, Necessitantes de Michochan and Calor Musical. To continue with the festivities, more than 60 classic and custom cars were shown during the car show. The cars competed to take home one of the 20 trophies, including a special trophy in recognition of the families who owns the cars. More than 30 vendors attended the event and more than 600 people were in attendance. Lori Calderon, president of the auxiliary said the show was put on for the veterans and their veteran program. She said she wants to thank everyone that came out to support the veterans and hopes the community will continue to come to future events and help veterans. "We did it for our veterans and the community so we can show that here are still veterans out here," Calderon said. "Everything turned out great. It was a great turnout and we are looking forward to doing it next year for our veterans."
