COLTON>> On Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, the Colton Public Library hosted its 5th annual Old Fashioned Christmas event. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, more than 200 friends and family within the Colton community packed the house. Many people were greeted by local Girl Scout Troop No. 11 who sang Christmas carols as they entered the doors that promised to be a festive evening. The evening began with State Preschoolers from Paul J. Rodgers Elementary singing Jingle Bells which brought a smile to everyone in attendance. Later, nine-year-old Desirae Flores from Colton graced the crowd for her fourth year in a row by playing Christmas classics. Traditional Christmas stories were shared, and the evening ended with a special visit from Old Saint Nick who brought Christmas joy and books to all of the children in attendance. Many children were happy to see Santa Claus and enjoyed receiving a book while also snapping a photo with the jolly man in red.
