COLTON>> Ken Hubbs Little League is preparing for its upcoming sign up and tryouts for this year’s baseball and softball season. Sign-ups will be at Veterans Memorial Park located in South Colton on Thursday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 4. The registration fee for Farm (T-ball) league, which is for children 4-8 years old, is $70 and the registration fee for minor league, ages 9-14 year old, is $80. Registration fee will include a player’s trophy and picture packet. For baseball the registration fee also includes a Jersey and hat, while softball registration fee will include a jersey, pants and socks. All returning players who missed the priority sign up date before Wednesday, Feb. 1, will not be eligible to return to their previous team and must participate in tryouts. "The tryout process is mandatory but it helps the managers and coaches of various team evaluate each player's ability in order to help place them to different teams," stated Robert Williams, Ken Hubbs Little League board member. Tryouts will be held on Thursday, Feb. 2 at the Veterans Memorial Park each league will be at separate times. On Feb.2, Farm baseball and softball will host tryouts at 6 p.m., then minors league will have tryouts at 7 p.m. and lastly, majors will have tryouts starting at 8 p.m. Tryouts on Feb. 4 will also be held at Veterans Memorial Park. The farm league will begin at 9 a.m., then minor league will start at 10 a.m. and lastly, major league tryouts will begin at 11 a.m. Ken Hubbs Memorial League is also looking for donations in order to help the league continue to grow and serve their community. They have updated the snack bar and have a new coke machine coming in to help with league-goers appetite during the games. “We are also looking for a small ice machine, if anyone has any knowledge of where we can get on or would just like to donate one,” Williams said. “We would really like for people to come be board members in our league.” The league is also looking for monetary donations to help support the program. If anyone is interested in becoming a board member, contact the Ken Hubbs Little League President Carlos Alba at 909-953-4597.
