SAN BERNARDINO> The West Valley Water District Board of Directors recently announced that Robert J. Bourland was recently sworn in at their regularly scheduled meeting to fill a vacancy on the Board of Directors following the November 2016 election. Bourland is a business process and technology integration professional with a career spanning 33 years in the utilities industry. Prior to his retirement from Southern California Edison, he served as the director of SCE’s application portfolio, the director of SCE’s Enterprise Information Management Initiative, and director of Usability to improve business process and the overall customer experience. Bourland is active in the community, served on the El Rancho Verde Municipal Advisory Committee, and is active with his church. He holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration, completed the Management of Information Technology program at Harvard Business School and received his Executive Management Certificate from Pepperdine University. WVWD Board President Dr. Clifford O. Young, Sr. welcomed the announcement, stating, “The Board of Supervisors have made an excellent choice in Robert Bourland. His background in the utility industry will be a great benefit to the district as we continue to deliver high quality water to our customers at reasonable rates.” As the board vacancy was created by the election of Rafael Trujillo to the Rialto City Council in November 2016 during the first half of the four year term, Bourland will hold office until the next general district election in November 2017. At that time, he is eligible to run for the second two-year period of the term. “I’m thrilled to be joining the Board of Directors for the West Valley Water District and thank the Board of Supervisors for their confidence in me,” Bourland said. “It’s a pleasure to serve my community, and I look forward to partnering with my fellow Board Members to continue to bring innovative technologies to the forefront as we plan for the future of our district.”
