Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes hosted Redemption: Prop 47 Application Workshop on Friday, October 6th, 2017 in partnership with the San Bernardino County Public Defender, California Partnership and Shirrells Community Center. The workshop assisted eligible residents in their preparation of a Prop 47 petition. Prop 47 was passed by nearly 60% of California voters in 2014 which allows, under specific circumstances, the reduction of a felony conviction, including low level drug possession and theft that did not exceed $950.

“We all must continue to help our residents at a second chance to regain their place in society, as allowed under Proposition 47,” said Assemblymember Reyes.

Assemblymember Reyes was joined by Steven Williams of the Steven Williams Foundation who coordinated the largest Prop 47 workshop event in 2016 with nearly 1000 participants who successfully applied under Prop 47.  He said, “Prop 47 is a promise to a better life, future, education, and opportunities that are limitless. To receive these benefits, you must apply. This will be the easiest and most important step you can make to a better future.”
