Colton's Recreational Activities for the Developmentally Disabled (R.A.D.D.) has several upcoming events in the new year. The program, which aims to provide a safe environment where individuals can engage in leisure time activities with friends and fellow club members, is open to those aged 18 plus and is gearing up for a busy 2014 with the following events: Live, Laugh, Love: Saturday, Feb. 1, 6:30 - 9 p.m.; With Valentine's Day just around the corner, our thoughts turn to those we love. Join friends for this event, where you can make something special for your Valentine, enjoy light refreshments and participate in fun activities. The cost is $15 per resident or $17 per non-resident. Pre-register for this event by Thursday, Jan. 30. Mardi Gras: Saturday, March 1, 6:30 - 9 p.m.; Grab your friends and come out to celebrate Mardi Gras! Enjoy snacks, dancing and fun. Don't forget to wear purple, green or gold and bring your beads to get into the spirit. Activities include mask decorating, so no need to bring your own. The cost is $15 per resident and $17 per non-resident. Pre-register for this event by Thursday, Feb. 27. Prom: Saturday, April 5, 6 - 9 p.m.; Dress up in your best, and celebrate with an old-school prom. Dance the night away with your friends and fellow club members; you may even be selected as king or queen! This event includes a sit-down dinner and souvenir photo (available the following week). The cost is $20 per resident and $23 per non-resident. Pre-register for this event by Thursday, March 27. My Art: Saturday, May 10, 6:30 - 9 p.m.; Explore the many ways art delights the senses by creating an artwork masterpiece to keep. Also create some edible art to enjoy for a snack, before learning the different styles of dance used by today's pop stars. For further information on how to join R.A.D.D. or to register for any of these events, please call Kelly Phelps, recreational coordinator, at 909-370-5568.
