CJUSD Seeks Input on Local Control and Accountability Plan

The Colton Joint Unified School District’s proposed Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) for 2014-15 will be available for inspection starting Friday in preparation for a public hearing at next week’s Board of Education meeting. The State of California recently passed sweeping changes to the method of funding for California public schools. With the intention of allowing school districts to locally control the expenditure of their funding, the state replaced many of its restricted and complex funding formulas in favor of a base allocation of funding supplemented by grants targeted at students with the highest educational needs, including English learner students, socio-economically disadvantaged students and foster youths. The district drafted its proposed LCAP with input from parents, staff and the community. Those interested can find the plan starting Friday, June 6, at www.cjusd.net and comment during the Proposed Budget Public Hearing at 6 p.m. on June 12 in the Board Room at 18829 Orange St. in Bloomington. The board will consider adopting the plan during a Special Meeting on June 26.
