An armed robber held two jewelry store employees at gunpoint and made off with approximately $50,000 in jewelry Monday, Oct. 21. The robbery occurred around 9:50 a.m. last Monday morning. Two female employees reported they were confronted by the suspect as they prepared to open the business, when he broke into the building through the roof, tied them up and held them at gunpoint, said Detective Ray Mendez of the Colton Police Department in a written statement. The suspect is described in reports as a 30-year-old man, who wore a nylon-type face mask, with a thin build. He was wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt and jeans. Det. Mendez told the City News Oct. 25 when called for an update that the subsequent investigation is still active and ongoing. Anyone with further information should call Detective R. Wilson at 909-370-5000.
