COLTON>> The APPLE Scholarship Foundation is now accepting 2017 scholarship applications. Starting now through Sunday, April 16, students who plan to attend community college or a four-year university or who also plan to pursue post-secondary vocational training may apply. Applicants must be a current graduating high school senior who attends school in the Colton Joint Unified School District or a child of a CJUSD employee. Applicants must complete an online application that includes a well-written essay. This year's topic will be, “Plans for my future - Describe how an APPLE Scholarship will help you meet your post-secondary educational and career goals.” Essays should be no longer than 500 words. Students should be prepared to list three teacher references and answer questions about their future educational goals. Multiple scholarships are available and will be handed out in varying amounts, once the committee has performed follow-up interviews with the selected applicants. All funds will be sent directly to the educational institution the student will attend. Finalists will be contacted by email. Winners who are CJUSD students will be recognized at their school's senior year awards ceremonies. Winning students of district employees will be notified through mail. Applications are accepted only online and must be received by Sunday, April 16. Any applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. Those interested may apply at http://bit.ly/CJUSDAPPLE2017.
