Voice of the People: Something Smells in Colton

Watching recent council meetings and reading comments from several council members in the papers, it appears that something smells in Colton. First you have a City Manager placed on paid leave, then I watch as it comes out that the City Manager had hired someone to investigate city personnel. And according to other elected officials as well as council members themselves, the council is not made aware of this investigation which would be the normal procedure. Why was the council not made aware? Perhaps the investigation was directed at one or more council members, his or her family or friends. Could it be that the City Manager was uncovering some wrong doing? Is that why he was placed on leave? Is this a way to silence him? It is clear to me that something is going on, especially when council members can't even agree on why the City Manager was placed on leave. We will never know what it is unless the City Manager's investigation is made public. I call on the city council to release this investigation. The public has a right to know what kind of shenanigans are occurring at our expense. Something smells in Colton. We don't need to go back to the days when there was one scandal after another in our city.
