SBVC Men’s Basketball: Hicks Signs Letter of Intent

SAN BERNARDINO >> San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) Men's Basketball sophomore guard Perris Hicks (Pasadena Blair) has signed a letter of intent with Fordham University. Hicks was selected as Foothill Conference Most Valuable Player, starting 29 regular season games for SBVC while averaging 21.4 points per game, finishing second in the state in minutes and shooting 91.4% from the free throw line in Conference play. He ranked second in the conference with 151 assists and 43 steals. Hicks scored in double figures in 28 of the 30 games he appeared in, including a 41-point effort at Victor Valley when he shot 16-for-24 from the field. Overall, he shot 48.4 percent from the field and including 40.3 from behind the arc (73-181). Hicks was named second team all-Foothill Conference for the 2014-15 season. According to FordhamSports.com, Rams head coach Jeff Neubauer said, "Perris Hicks is a terrific young man who has continually improved throughout his career. He is exactly the type of teammate that we are trying to fill our locker room with as we go forward." Under the tutelage of eighth-year coach Quincy Brewer, #2 seeded SBVC Men's Basketball ended the 2015-2016 season claiming their 15th Conference championship, the Foothill Conference Coach of the Year award and the MVP award. Brewer was awarded for the fifth time as Coach of the Year finishing the regular season, ranked fourth in the state with a 28-3 overall record and a 9-1 conference record, wrapping up the regular season winning 17 of their final 18 games. They were rewarded with the 2 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. Fordham University is located in The Bronx, a neighborhood or "Borough" of New York City. The Fordham Rams play in Rose Hill Gym and the team is coached by 2nd year head coach, Jeff Neubauer. In the 2015-16 season, the Rams went 8-10 in conference play finishing 8th, with an overall record of 17-14, concluding the season in opening round of the 2016 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT). Fordham is in the Atlantic 10 of NCAA Division One.
