COLTON>> God’s Servants Ministries, a church in Colton, took to the streets of Colton, the outskirts of San Bernardino, Rialto and Bloomington to help pass out a hot Thanksgiving meal to 183 homeless people this past weekend. The church, located at 461 E. D St, in Colton, had helped pass out warm Thanksgiving meals more 18 years since the church began. Pastor Albert Rivera said he was amazed to see how many woman and children were in the streets. “Our annual Thanksgiving goal was to feed 150 homeless in the streets but praise be to God we actually fed 183 and we were amazed to find so many women out there that are homeless,” Pastor Rivera said on their Facebook page. The warm meals included a full plate of turkey, dressing and other warm food along with water or soda. The church of about 20 members would pass out the food and would offer to pray for each person they gave food to. Rivera said even if they did not want a prayer spoken over them, they were still able to receive a warm meal. The church also goes out into the community every other weekend to pass out regular lunches to the homeless. On the other weekend when they are not passing out lunches, the church ministers to convalescent homes. For Christmas, the church will also have an opportunity for the community to receive a bag of food at the church. For more information about the church and the free services they offer, please contact Pastor Rivera (909)825-3845. Church services include Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday at 7 p.m.
