A man has been left in critical condition after he was shot at a local hotel. Colton police officials were dispatched to the Rodeway Inn Hotel at about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, where they located the victim, identified by police as a 20-year-old black male, who had been shot in the upper abdominal area. The victim was immediately taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he is currently listed in critical care, said police. A release issued by Colton police officials stated that the suspect was no longer at the scene when they arrived. Corporal Ray Mendez said via email that police are still in the early stages of investigation and what led to the shooting. Investigators believe there may have been an altercation or a disagreement between the victim and the suspect in one of the hotel rooms before the shooting occurred. Anyone who may have information regarding the shooting is asked to contact Det. Wilson at the Colton Police Department, 909-370-5021.
