COLTON>> During the recent groundbreaking ceremony of Smart & Final Extra! In Colton, Council Member Frank Navarro announced one way the community can help give back to children in a big way. Evergreen, a real estate company specializing in retail, commercial and multi-family development, asset management, property management and leasing, is developing the Smart & Final Extra! store. The company also has a charitable foundation that partners with the non-profit organization, Shoes That Fit, to help kids improve their self-esteem by eliminating worn out or ill-fitting shoes. Through their foundation, five schools are selected annually that demonstrate need for their students to be a part of the Shoes for Kids Drive. “This year, Lincoln School was one of the five schools selected. To that, I give Evergreen a huge thank you,” Navarro said. Sponsored by Evergreen Development Foundation in partnership with “Shoes That Fit,” residents can donate shoes for children and help give back. Donatations needed are girl shoes sizes, 11, 12 and 1, and boy sizes 1,2, and 3. A box is placed in the City Hall lobby where shoes can be dropped off at or money donations can be made through PayPal at www.evgre.com/who-we-are/our-foundation/. Colton City Hall is located at 650 N. La Cadena Drive, Colton, CA 92324. The company’s stated mission is to support children, education and neighborhoods in the communities where Evergreeners work and live.
