Dominique Salazar, Colton High School Junior, has been selected to represent Colton American Legion Auxiliary Unit 155 at the 2017 Girls State Session. Girls State is a Leadership and Citizenship Program the American Legion Auxiliary sponsors. It is designed to increase awareness and knowledge of governmental processes.

Junior Class Counselors recommend candidates for the interview process which were conducted on February 8th by Auxiliary Members Lupe Lavin and Mary Lou Navarro.  Dominique was selected from 7 intelligent young ladies interviewed.

One delegate is selected from each high school.  Approximately 40 young ladies throughout District 25 represent their school in the program and 600 in the State of California.

On April 23rd, every delegate chosen from the various schools in the District gathered for a Tea/Orientation at Colton American Legion Post 155 to meet and socialize with each other prior to attending the week-long conference.

Dominique is the daughter of Ramon and Dawnell Salazar.
