The month of February will be filled with a little more "warm fuzziness" for local foster youth when volunteers will gather to sort and personalize over 100 pairs of donated pajamas. The event, hosted by the foster care non-profit organization Trinity Youth Services, is dubbed "Warm and Fuzzy February," and will assemble volunteers from throughout the Inland Empire on Friday, Feb. 20 to help deliver donated pajamas to children and adolescents in foster care. Volunteers will also decorate one-of-a-kind bags for each child, decorated to reflect the warmth they want the children to feel. "Most of us don't realize how little things, like a warm set of pajamas, can affect our feeling of security," said Rebecca Tortes, Outreach Director for Trinity Youth Services. Over 25 volunteers have signed up to participate in the event, including many students from California State University, San Bernardino. The Feb. 20 volunteer event is one of hundreds Trinity Youth Services has held throughout the Inland Empire. Founded in 1966, the nonprofit is a resource for foster care, residential treatment and mental health services for children and youth removed from their homes due to neglect, abuse or abandonment. Those unable to participate in the Feb. 20 Colton event may also by donating adult sized pajamas for youth in foster care, ages 13 and up, to Trinity Youth Services. Those interested in participating in Friday's event should contact Rebecca Tortes either on the phone at 909-825-5588 ext. 264, or through email at RebeccaT@TrinityYS.org.
