COLTON>> This week, the Sierra Club’s San Gorgonio Chapter endorsed Randall Macias Ceniceros as its candidate in the race for San Bernardino Municipal Water District Division II. “The Sierra Club’s legacy of protecting our water from pollution and our environment for future generations has been exceptional and unique,” Ceniceros said. “I am equally committed to protecting our water and San Bernardino County’s vast natural resources for our children and their children. I will do everything possible to keep our air and water clean in the Inland Empire, while continuing to address our water crisis in the region.” Ceniceros is currently a Trustee on the Colton Joint Unified School District where he was part of a leadership team that secured the region’s first electric bus fleet. In addition, Ceniceros and his colleagues began energy conservation efforts in the school district with SunPower to install solar panels on carport sun shelters at the district’s 29 sites. The district stands to save $38 million dollars in energy costs due to this effort. Recently, Ceniceros said he and his team started moving the district’s sites to be more water wise by installing dryscapes and artificial turf. “We couldn’t have endorsed a more forward-thinking, environmental champion with such an impressive track record,” said Jono Hildner, the San Gorgonio Chapter’s Political Director. “We look forward to working with Trustee Ceniceros in tackling the region’s water issues.” The Sierra Club is the nation’s largest and oldest grassroots environmental organization with a strong record of mobilizing voters to support its endorsed candidates.
