Community Cabinet members recently took part in the college and career activities at the local CJUSD high schools. For Bloomington High School, College Week started Monday Oct. 12 and lasted until Friday. Activities such as college and career fairs, mock interviews, and more were well represented by members of the Community Cabinet. Their time was greatly appreciated by teachers and staff. Cabinet members shared their expertise with the students, and helped them to be ready for college and their career. In a CJUSD newsletter, Superintendent Jerry Almendarez thanks the Community Cabinet for their hard work. "Your commitment to the success of our students is invaluable," he writes. "It all helps us to realize the San Bernardino County vision to ensure our students are truly ready for college or career when they graduate. Thank you!" According to the CJUSD website, the group was formed in Aug. 2013, focusing "on the four key priority areas of Mental and Physical Health Awareness, Literacy, Early Preparation, and Academic and Career Readiness." The Community Cabinet develops plans to execute these four goals throughout the school year. Stated on the website, "Community Cabinet continues to focus its mission through ongoing dialogue with students, teachers, principals and counselors. These brainstorming sessions open dialogue about resources and ideas Community Cabinet members have to offer, and matching them to the needs of our schools."
