SBVC Baseball will host Foothill Conference rivals Cerro Coso on Tuesday, March 1 at 2 p.m. and Victor Valley on Saturday, March 5 at 12 p.m. as the team attempts to collect career win 600 for head coach Bill Mierzwik. SBVC begin the week of Feb. 29 with coach Mierzwik holding at 599 career wins. The team started the season 4-0 and has their sights set on a fourth consecutive Foothill Conference Championship and fifth consecutive playoff berth. Coach Mierzwik envisions the outcome of the 2016 season to be one in which the team improves on the field and personally. He wants the players to continue to come together as a team mirroring a family-like atmosphere. The family atmosphere will take care of winning and losing games itself, because the players will encourage each other to believe in themselves and the team and putting their best effort out on the field. These factors can lead to winning games and making it to the post season. The words of wisdom that Coach Mierzwik believes and wants to motivate his team with are: “Be you and know your strength, don’t try to be someone you’re not by playing outside your skill set. Just play with what you know you are worth.” Interested in more SBVC news? Here's a list of a few of the many recent articles on the local college (click on the photo or title below):
