City Council Recognizes Manna Donuts as Successful Colton Business

At the recent Council Meeting February 18, Council Member Dr.G (Dr. Luis S. González) presented Ngi Ly and Jennifer Ly (Lee), owners of Manna Donuts, with a “Business Focus” Recognition Award for their successful business operation in the City of Colton. Located in the Canyon Bluffs Plaza along Washington Street, this long-established company originally started in 1990, and has been a mainstay of the Colton east-side business community for 35 years. While living nearby, they purchased and took over this donut business in Colton with the hopes of making a consistent living and raising their family.

Born in Cambodia, both of their families moved to Vietnam for a short period of time before Ngi came to the United States in 1989 to live in Loma Linda. A few months later, Jennifer came to the United Stated arriving in Richmond, near San Francisco, then moved to live with her brother in So. California, because of the pleasant weather.

Through mutual acquaintances, they reunited, fell in love and were married in 1990. They decided to purchase their own business, and soon after, they learned that the previous owner of Mrs. Cooley Donuts wanted to sell her donut store. The timing couldn’t better, and they quickly jumped at the opportunity. Ngi wanted to change the name and liked the name “Manna” because it’s from the bible, and represented the feeding of people. This was the beginning of Manna Donuts.

Since that time, Manna Donuts has been a very popular business, not only among the locals, but to many travelers along Washington Street, as well as many members of our community. They have a great location, plenty of parking (in and out), and between the two of them, and their son, someone is always on duty and available to serve you. The atmosphere is friendly, their service is quick, their selection of donuts is awesome, and if you stop by early in the morning you’re more than likely to see Ngi working on his latest masterpiece to present to his customers each and every day.

Ngi Ly, along with his wife, Jennifer Ly, and their family, are to be congratulated for their success as a Colton business for 35 years. We certainly look forward to their continued success, and look forward to the smell and taste of their delicious donuts, and fresh coffee, for years to come. With this presentation, the City Council formally recognizes their hard work, great customer service, and excellent reputation, as well as their valuable contribution to our community and to our local economy. Thank you Manna Donuts for doing business in the City of Colton
