City Council Recognizes Manning State Farm Insurance as a Successful Colton Business

At the recent Council Meeting July 15, Council Member Dr.G (Dr. Luis S. González) presented Scott Manning, owner of State Farm Insurance, with a “Business Focus” Recognition Award for his successful business operation in the City of Colton. Located in the downtown La Cadena Plaza near the Post Office, this long-established company originally started under Mr Scott’s ownership in 2003, and has been a mainstay of the Colton downtown business community for 22 years.

Originally this agency started in 1947, just after WWII. The owner was Eulis Hubbs, father of the well-known Hubbs family. In 1975, State Farm in Colton was bought out by William “Bill” Derby, who employed  Yolanda Vasquez Meyer as the second agent for the next 20 years. At the time, Scott Manning was working in Colton from 1987-2003 as a truck salesman for Dietrich International. Charlie Mees, who was a  State Farm Executive in Redlands hired Manning in 2003, and assigned him to the Beaumont office. Due to the need for bilingual help, Manning was immediately re-assigned to Colton as a management trainee, and a prospective agent. After “interning” 6 months, Mr. Mayer died, and Scott Manning was catapulted permanently to the Colton State Farm Agency as the new Agent.

Their website states “Our mission is to discover, and discuss in detail, what is important to you.” Mr. Manning says this may sound simple at first, but understanding what is important to you allows us to meet your needs, exceed expectations, personalize our service, and work to keep improving. His long-standing success in Colton is a testament to his dedication to this philosophy.

Mr. Manning does not just provide basic home insurance but also offers a variety of services such as auto Insurance, business Insurance, life Insurance, pet Insurance, recreational vehicles Insurance, and boat Insurance as well as Health Insurance Supplemental Retirement plans and Financial Consulting.

           Behind this business name, Scott Manning, employs four employees and maintains convenient store hours M-F 9am-5pm. Appointments can also be made during off hours if you have an emergency or need a zoom meeting. As your State Farm Agent, Mr. Manning has been a dedicated member of the insurance industry and continues to find ways of providing even better service.  He has a strong commitment to customer service, and ensures that each customer receives personalized attention and customized products to meet their needs.

Scott Manning and his staff are to be congratulated for their success as a local downtown business in Colton for 22 years. We truly hope that they will continue their successful business for years to come, and we want to recognize them for their hard work, great customer service, and excellent reputation; and for making a valuable contribution to our community and to our local economy.
