Colton’s Active Aging Health Fair Brings Free Wellness Resources to Residents 50 and Better

Staying healthy as we age involves more than an occasional visit to the doctor. Access to reliable information, preventive screenings and local resources can help older adults remain independent and active, and Colton is bringing many of those services together in one place later this month.

The City of Colton will host its Active Aging Health Fair on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Colton Downtown Paseo, 135 W. Valley Boulevard. The event is free and is designed specifically to connect adults age 50 and older with health resources, screenings and wellness information from local providers.

The health fair is part of a larger effort by Colton Community Services to provide opportunities that help older residents remain engaged, informed and connected.

Health fairs can play an important role in preventive care because they bring information directly into the community. For some residents, learning about a health service or participating in a basic screening at a local event can be the first step toward recognizing an issue that deserves additional attention.

Just as importantly, the event provides an opportunity to learn what resources are available before they are urgently needed.

Colton's focus on active aging reflects a broader understanding that growing older does not have to mean withdrawing from community life. Physical activity, social interaction, access to health information and opportunities to continue learning can all contribute to quality of life.

That philosophy is already visible through the City's 50+ programming. Colton offers activities ranging from exercise and recreational programs to arts, social gatherings and excursions. The Active Aging Health Fair adds another component by placing wellness education and health resources at the center of the conversation.

Holding the event at the Downtown Paseo also brings the program into a central community setting rather than limiting health education to a clinical environment. Residents can meet providers, ask questions and explore available resources in a more informal atmosphere.

The timing is significant as well. September is Healthy Aging Month, making the event an opportunity to remind residents that healthy habits remain important at every stage of life.

For families, the fair may also provide useful information for those helping parents, grandparents or other older relatives navigate changing health and wellness needs. Knowing what programs and services are available locally can make it easier to find assistance when circumstances change.

Colton has continued expanding opportunities for its older population through the Hutton Community Center and its 50+ Club. Those programs emphasize not only recreation but also maintaining friendships, staying physically active and giving older adults places to remain involved in community life.

The September health fair builds naturally on that foundation.

There is no admission charge for the Active Aging Health Fair. The City currently lists the event for Friday, September 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Colton Downtown Paseo, 135 W. Valley Boulevard.

For Colton's older residents, the evening offers something valuable that cannot always be found in a brochure or online search: an opportunity to meet people face-to-face, ask questions and discover resources available close to home.

Healthy aging is ultimately about preserving the ability to continue doing the things that make life meaningful. By bringing wellness information and community resources together downtown, Colton is helping residents take another step toward doing exactly that.
