Summer Zamora Jorrin Runs for Council's District 2

Summer Zamora Jorrin is a city council candidate for District 2 in Colton. Yes, she is the daughter of former Colton Joint Unified School Board Member and Colton Mayor David R. Zamora. And yes, she is the daughter of Colton Mayor Sarah S. Zamora who is completing Mr. Zamora’s mayoral term after he unexpectedly died of a heart attack in July 2011. But there is much more to Summer than name recognition or parents who have instilled a love of service after devoting over 20 years in elected office for the Colton community. Zamora Jorrin, a married mother of two, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside and a Master’s of Public Administration from California State University, San Bernardino. Zamora Jorrin has taken that education and used her critical thinking skills as Chair of the Colton Recreation and Parks Commission, CJUSD Measure G Bond Oversight Committee Vice-Chair, and Colton Parks and Recreation Foundation President. She is a Booster officer and classroom volunteer at Grant Elementary and a member of the CJUSD Community Cabinet. Along with her husband of 10 years, she served as a Colton T-Ball Board Member. Her involvement enables her to bring a high level of professionalism and the confidence to serve on the City Council. As a 1999 graduate of Colton High School, Zamora Jorrin recognizes the need for the city council and school board to work together, and if elected, she intends to continue her roles supporting CJUSD, while also working towards stronger regional partnerships. Zamora Jorrin looks to add youth and enthusiasm to the council, and share the experiences she has gained through her higher education and community involvement. Zamora Jorrin will support the police and fire along with all other city departments in ensuring Colton’s neighborhoods and parks are safe, clean, and maintained. She will work to attract new businesses and lower utility rates. As a fiscal conservative, Zamora Jorrin appreciates the challenges the city is facing and looks forward to working with the council, city employees, and residents to continue moving Colton forward.
