Summer Food Service Program Aims to Keep Kids Healthy

With summer right around the corner, it’s time to think about keeping children healthy while school is out. Colton Joint Unified School District will be providing free nutritious meals to children 18 years and younger during the summer as follows: In the Colton area: * Colton High School: June 15 - July 23, except July 3. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8 a.m. and lunch from 10 to 10:30 a.m. * Colton Middle School: June 15 - July 2. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11 to 11:30 a.m. * Washington High School: June 15 - July 23, except July 3. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 10:30 to 11 a.m. * Alice Birney Elementary: June 15 - July 2. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 10:30 to 11 a.m. * Rogers Elementary: June 15 - July 28, except July 3. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 to 11:30 a.m. * Gonzales Community Center: June 15 - July 23, except July 3. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to noon. * Luque Community Center: June 15 - July 23, except July 3. Lunch will be served from 12:30 to 1 p.m. In the Grand Terrace area: * Grand Terrace High School: June 15 - July 23, except July 3. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8 a.m. and lunch from 10 to 10:30 a.m. * Terrace Hills Middle School: June 15 - July 2. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11 to 11:30 a.m. * Cooley Ranch Elementary: June 15 - July 28, except July 3. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 to 11:30 a.m. In the Bloomington area: * Bloomington High School: June 15 - July 23, except July 3. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11 to 11:30 a.m. * Ruth O. Harris Middle School: June 15 - July 2. Breakfast will be served from 8:40 to 9:10 a.m. and lunch from 11:10 to 11:40 a.m. * Joe Baca Middle School: June 15 - July 2. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11 to 11:30 a.m. * Crestmore Elementary: June 15 - July 2. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 to 11:30 a.m. * Smith Elementary: June 15 - July 2. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 to 11:30 a.m. There are no applications and no IDs needed. Simply show up and receive a free meal.
