Colton>> Arrowhead Regional Medical Center employees from various departments participated in a “Go Red” event at the hospital last month, in support of the American Heart Association and American Heart Month. “Go Red” is an American Heart Association campaign to increase awareness for women’s heart health. Participants in the event were invited to wear red and participate in a fashion show, while also learning about heart disease and stroke. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the number one killer of women in the U.S., with 90 percent of women having one or more risk factors. During “Go Red", employees were able to view interactive displays, review the symptoms of heart attack and stroke, perform hands-only CPR and learn about AHA’s seven step list, “Life’s Simple Seven.” To live a long and healthy life, the seven steps include getting active, eating better, losing weight, quitting smoking, controlling cholesterol, managing blood pressure and reducing blood sugar. From hospital physicians presenting information and nurses providing demonstrations, to behind the scenes medical technicians and lobby staff, dozens of employees came together for the fun and interactive event.
